Pretty shinies
Tuesday, 7 July 2020 @ 11:41am
After an epic two day battle with my phone and my computer, I am now able to show off my new shinies.
What you’re seeing here are the purple flower that I bought from @bearone for 200 hive, an owl that she said I could have because she loves me (awww _ I did tell her I wanted to buy one when she was ready to sell them) and a candle that made me really glad I was extremely careful about unpacking the box because I had no idea it was in there. It has a really nice smell that was slightly overwhelming when I first opened the box (it was a small box and I thought she just sprayed essential oil into the box to make it nice for the recipient when they received their goods but nope bonus scented candle XD).
Blue Tanager
Thursday, 4 June 2020 @ 8:55am
I think I did the apple slightly too big, even if it is a little person.
This one is for elviento, who didn’t ask for one but did post some adorable pictures of blue tanagers which I didn’t even know existed. I cowarded out and did a front shot (because I figured the underside of the wings will be plainer than the top because that’s usually how these things seem to roll) because I won’t be able to get the colours of the wings with a sketchy.
SQUIRREL
Thursday, 7 May 2020 @ 11:27pm
Running super late with these cameos just like with everything else, I AM SO SORRY x_x
@artwatch requested a black kitten/otter hybrid that was more kitten than otter. I immediately dubbed it “kittotten” and did a couple of initial sketchies, erased them all, started on another, and got distracted for literal months.
Yesterday I finally got back to it (I’ve lost track of days since soft lockdown first started and basically only know when it’s a weekday or a weekend, I am trying to remember to check more often x_x) and after a couple more fails which got scrubbed suddenly ended up with something I could work with.
AER crowd character: Galen
Thursday, 27 June 2019 @ 7:54am
Galen was totally going to be a bounty hunter or special forces sniper or something to that effect. I even did the sketchy for it. It wasn’t happy though, and it was late at night so I deleted everything and stormed off to bed.
This Galen is a prepper who lives a simple peaceful life on the edge of town and is one of those guys you want to take on your long range hunting trips because he has a keen eye. Also probably has an armoured campervan a family could survive a zombie apocalypse in.
Meditation not mediation
Friday, 19 April 2019 @ 7:49pm
Pineapple posted his first acapella song in the deep-shit channel for our listening pleasure.
It sounded pretty contemplative so I had this idea of Cinvent’s Forest Fish and Pineapple’s Pineapple Angel meditating to it. Which was all well and good except Pineapple Angel looks like he’s about to burst into song…or singing this one, which I guess is fitting? XD
Did this super quickly to take a break (but not too long a break unlike the other break) from the scales which are still managing to be painful in different ways, and posting this now instead of tomorrow so I can do a bit more prog for the progblog XP
October ProgBlog #4: cartwheels are harder than spins
Saturday, 20 October 2018 @ 10:12am
And that’s pretty much the extent of this progblog XD
This week has been pretty slow on all fronts. 9yo had a cold again so we couldn’t go out and do much, so we just chilled and reconnected, which of course meant not much work getting done. It also wasn’t helped by having to make a hundred million phone calls to government departments. I don’t do phones so it was exhausting and I had to go hide for a little while afterwards. I did get some villainous upgoats done, but even though I made some big swatches it didn’t occur to me that I’d end up with a foxgoat til after I’d done it. Sigh.
September ProgBlog #3: bouncing everywhere
Sunday, 16 September 2018 @ 4:11pm
I’m still editing week before’s Wednesday streaming and have to start on last week’s, ideally before I do this week’s but cutting music is hard.
Getting rid of all the pauses and timelapsing the video is easy. The yellow composite layer in the screenie is only there because for whatever reason the preview skips and stutters and carries on when there’s a title clip, I should be able to remove it before rendering. If I didn’t have a plan which involved trying o accumulate a couple of steem for the Hayrunners project, I’m not sure that I would post this. Maybe it might be interesting if you like watching flats very slowly getting depth added despite being spend up 2000%? It just seems kind of boring after watching the more fun and dynamic drawings that spodey and scrawly have been posting videos of.
Avatar for f3nix
Thursday, 30 August 2018 @ 9:43pm
Finally finished f3nix’s avatar! Not sure if this is steampunky enough but I am the type that would likely go a bit overboard with gears and stuff (drawing gears is somewhat cool and mostly terrifying even with a base) which is impractical in this scenario, would have had to do a showy portrait shot for that to work. I can still do that if preferred, it will just take a while again :S
August ProgBlog #4: Rollin rollin rollin
Friday, 24 August 2018 @ 8:51pm
I needed a break from technical stuff, so I started sculpting Zara. I don’t know why I always start with eyebrows, I just do, so I did the eyebrows, but then deviated from my usual of going down the nose and doing the face and bounced over to doing the ears. Probably because hers are a bit pointy.
The point is tricky as the Avians have an obvious point but their ears aren’t nearly as big as the Dragonkin ears. She doesn’t look like anyone yet but we’ll get there, hopefully in less time than it took to do Red as she’s got the standard amount of limbs and I don’t completely suck at retopo and uv unwrapping anymore (even though I still don’t like either of them XD).
August ProgBlog #3: Weakling!
Sunday, 19 August 2018 @ 7:59pm
Today was the last day of regionals at our gym, there were three rounds of level 3s, then 11yo and I stayed to help reset the gym back to normal for training for states in ~4 weeks.
I’m feeling kind of pathetic as after guarding doors for two weekends and helping move heavy equipment everything from the back down are pretty sore (okay in hindsight it was probably stupid to lift the big p-bars by myself but I have good stances, maybe not as good as Zip’s but all I had to do was lift each end in turn so the floor protectors could be put under the feet) and…apparently while I can still use my hands for typing and poking at touch screens, I can’t draw. Well I can but working on @f3nix’s piece is taking way more concentration than it should.
