Happy slightly late silly season!

A little bit late due to a combination of family shenanigans and whatnot, forgetting how to draw, doing a different method, realising that method would take too long, attempting to draw again, finally remembering how to draw and then trying to blitz it out around everything else in by then one day left, stymied slightly by a very fun new year party and actually finished it on time but then when I went to export it Krita and/or the MacBook started playing silly buggers and insisted on giving me blurry images and so I airdropped it to sibling dearest to see if she could work something out.  She couldn't get it to resize nicely either and after trying to work out if it was a brush problem or a Mac problem she ended up taking a screenshot and sending me that, and that is what got uploaded at the end of the night x_x

She also helped with the design of the silly shirts and socks by shooting me keywords.

Alternate title: FREEDOM!

Which is probably what Zara was screaming into the wind.

Don't do what Zara is doing, it's very stupid and dangerous.

And Megan's seatbelt is currently not effective so don't do that either XD

And the pod windscreens are actually HUDs and Dakarai is looking at a rear view thing but the HUD can only be seen from inside the pod.  The HUD is probably also screaming about an unrestrained passenger.

^{I really should have finished this piece hours and hours ago, but I got distracted reading Chronicles of Darkness books and suggesting to the kids that we try a short run to test the system out and see if we like it enough to switch.  And so I don't have a story for this one because it's 1am.}

There's really not a lot of prog to blog as I'm well and truly stuck again.  Very slowly doing the step by step caching physics thing to frame 0 (something keeps going wrong and making me have to start again and it's not fun for anyone) which is exactly what I was doing last week.

@rainite asked me about my characters on Discord and I said I'd done a few and would so a summary post for them, and figured I may as well chuck it in this progblog because it's kind of prog (just over a longer period than a week) rather than making a separate summary post (which feels like cheating because I've posted all of these pics before, if it's in a progblog as a progress thing it feels slightly less like cheating even though it's basically the same thing, see it's this kind of logic that allows people to justify idiocy).

Cut this one fine again but at least I'm usually up late at this time.  When I'm in Perth I'm usually up to see in the new year, and then I stay up another hour til it's new year for Sprat.  I'm home for the holidays this year so no real need to stay up the extra hour :)

Mum, Sprat, the girl child and I saw in the new year together in an entertaining fashion, all the men in our family had piked out early XD

No story for this one, it's late and I'm old.

I did the other two progblogs pretty much back to back and managed to forget that and thought I was doing 2 now but apparently I'm up to 3, getting old in my old age and a bit more sleep wouldn't be remiss either.

I still have a process/progress video for Embers but I've decided I'm way too lazy to edit it and just need to finish Embers because it's already November next month and while I would love to make a tiny bit more steem for hayrunners I also want to progress all the other stuff (including the stuff I'm "supposed" to be doing! XD) and end of year stuff is ramping up so things are going to get busier soon.  Fortunately the gymnastics end of year display didn't clash with the dance end of year concert!

This weekend was busier than usual with 13yo and 11yo having states.  Both of them did pretty well, 11yo got a silver on beam (level 5 is tough!) and 13yo got silver on pommel and rings and gold on floor and parallel bars as well as second in All Around.

Now there's just end of year stuff to go! 11yo has been busy at fornightly dance rehearsals as she's in the opening performance for the end of year concert.  Now I just  hope it doesn't clash with the gymnastics end of year display!

I eventually decided I would post the video of me doing shadow 1 because while it's a bit on the boring side it is kind of the most important shadow layer as it sets the base for both light 1 and the other two shadow layers.

This has been the better part of a week in the making.  Almost full days because I stupidly thought that I would get it done next session.  I now have headache-caused-by-terrible-posture and my neck is violently out again.  Pro-tip: do not spend hours a day hunched over a tablet.  And while I'm not completely happy with it I'm happy enough to post it.  And obviously I need a hell of a lot more practice with dark scenes.

There is a story behind this one, but not one that I normally try to write to accompany pieces.

Super quickie sketch before bed (and because I'm late getting to bed again (which means I've once more failed at trying to get to bed early, really need to stop it with the bloody late nights! XD), no story with this one, sorry.

Zara and Dak playing blind push hands during one of their common training sessions.  Zara is supposed to have her goggles around her neck but I forgot to draw them before I coloured the top.  Oops.

A prickle of nervousness crawled up Silver's spine and settled at the nape of his neck as he followed Aurelius up the very familiar corridor towards one of The Geisha's private rooms.  He didn't usually get nervous going into or even at meets.  He was good at what he did and had an excellent track record for getting favourable outcomes for himself and his employer (not necessarily so much for the other party but that wasn't really his problem).

He hadn't thought twice when Strike had told him that he would be sending his kids to this meet instead of attending himself.  He'd figured it would be a walk in the park, a regrettable occurrence for Strike and the Reavers and the pretty little lamb Strike was sending to slaughter.
