December ProgBlog #2: less ramp, more ramp, less prog

The last major gymnastics event for the year is over, which took a lot of pressure off.

I finished the photobooks, more pressure off.

Then stuff happened with made things ramp up again, and it got so bad that I deliberately didn't do some mental health stuff that would have helped the frame of mind I fell into because there is literally absolutely no point whatsoever, because I'm wrong and everyone else is right and that's all there is to it no matter what.

And after I got over the thing that put me into the depressive spiral in the first place (spoiler: not actually over it) I felt really annoyed about not having progressed any of my projects so I stayed up late once more ostensibly to try to get some prog for the blog (I really need to stop staying up late and waking up early, apparently lack of sleep is pretty bad).

December ProgBlog #1: ramp

Stuff is ramping up.

I've been mostly working on photobooks trying to get them done in time for printing and shipping back to the island in the vain hopes it might not get there too late.  I've also been working on my dice system (it has undergone two major overhauls in about as many days) and roleplaying notes (gained a bit of extra time as the kids didn't feel like playing the weekend just gone, I brought the stuff over anyway just in case I actually needed it but got to just hang with my friend the entire time).

And I need to try harder to catch up with the homeschool miscellanies and ttrpg writeups.  I don't seem to have taken any photos at all in October (not even normal ones) so there's just November and December to do.  And I'm apparently getting a new moderator next year and am probably going to make a great first impression with the nonsense this year has been.

October ProgBlog #1: Toolsday

So, with the sheer volume of stuff happening on the weekend (work, training and roleplaying), it will probably come as a surprise to exactly no one that I'm struggling to get progblogs out on those days.

Additionally despite knowing from a ridiculous amount of previous experience that it leads to burnout and intense slowdown at best (I can feel how slow I'm moving and it's annoying me no end) and downtime at worst, I cut into sleep time again because it's the easiest thing to cut x_x

So I guess I'll try blogging on Toolsday as it seems to be the miscellaneous day when anything and everything could happen.

And tooling might even get done because I feel like I actually made some progress for a change.

Finally finished Yue's outfit, and also made her hair a bit longer (so it's roughly at the length it is in my drawing but not nearly as long as skaterpunk Yue who had waist length dreaddies).

September ProgBlog #4: shifting patterns

The weather finally warmed up enough that I was able to make it to training (late as per usual because the time I would have to leave to get there on time is about when I'm waking up x_x but better late than never?).  I fell into old habits and doing low stances after three months of not training at all is generally not the best idea, I was somewhat stiff and sore afterwards XD and then the following day we went on an 8km hike because yes.

The worst thing about the hike aside from youngest's incessant whining was that it was such a beautiful day for it everyone was out.

September ProgBlog #3: another slow week

It's been a busy weekend with states competitions, following a busy week of training and preparing for states competitions.  We had to skip roleplaying (for the third or fourth time in a row, previously people had been staggering being sick x_x) and there were 5-5:30am starts on Saturday and Sunday x_x as 14yo and I were getting picked up at 6am by the head coach.  16yo was sick for regionals and bailed out of states (because it's been a weird year some people that missed out on regionals due to illness or quarantine were allowed to apply to do states and most were accepted, he now regrets doing so, told him to make up for it next year).  14yo had an amazing day on Friday; managing third on vault  and beam, equal first on floor with one of her friends, and third all around.  On Saturday were just there as cheer squad.  My level 3 and 4 boys did pretty well on Sunday with all of them getting at least one medal.

August ProgBlog #3: where did that week go?

It was starting and I had plans and then other stuff happened and I just kind of tried to deal with things (generally failing) so kind of just buried into music (generally looping my project playlists) and did stuff (not nearly as much as I wanted, yeh I know that's the usual story, but it's even less done than usual as brain is not functioning correctly at the moment, I borked) and then suddenly it was the weekend.

To be honest a similar thing has happened over the last couple of weeks except this time I'm actually aware of what day it is beyond knowing where which child needed to be so I guess it's an improvement?

I'm going to try switching up the schedule again to:

August ProgBlog #2: stalls and tools

It's been a few weeks.

And then I finally got around to writing this thing, and was making some half-decent progress (while chatting to sibling dearest in our inaugural hopefully weekly project chat and progressing some other stuff as well) and then had one of those infuriating semi-frequent crashes that refuses under any circumstances to be diagnosed (it's probably hardware because there is literally nothing that I am doing that can reproduce them reliably).

Some good things happened too.  I got a new graphics card, which I of course had to test out on the top of Acaedia where there's a fair bit of glass.

August ProgBlog #1: branching out

The scales are still going.  The only thing that's changed is that I'm now in the yellow PURPLE section! XD

neverending scales   in the purple (second last!) section of the dragon)

July ProgBlog #3: why does it have to be scales

Once again, doing a bit more work on character portraits than 3d, because my brain just doesn't want to deal with the scales.  I eventually decided to keep my character consistent with the other ones (Captain Gundry and Bricky Steve) rather than doing the different headshots (partly because I'm kind of designing the outfit and the "weapon" which isn't an actual weapon, just something she uses to beat people up with when she isn't riding around on it, on the fly and mostly because it is going to take the better part of forever if I do it that way, now at least I have some idea of when I might finish).

I'm halfway through 2/5.

July ProgBlog #2: tedium

There has not been a lot of progress this week, partly because I felt quite inspired by Sunday's roleplaying game and ended up working on character portraits instead,
