February ProgBlog #1: pingpong

Friday, 7 February 2020 @ 9:56pm
On Tuesday I posted this screenie of Zara in showoff pose on ko-fi and that’s where I’m still currently stuck while the next few moves work themselves out in my head. It was a good excuse to jump back to Red and redo the retopo. My edge loops are probably not the best right now but they were a lot worse on my original retopo, no wonder I was having so much trouble with deformations. Not to mention it was probably a lot heavier than it should have been. Having said that it was kind of an experiment in seeing if I could get high poly to work and I’m not smart enough so I’ll stick with mid poly and subdivision surfaces. And fix all the edge loops while I’m about it because there was no coming back from that one.

November ProgBlog #1

I missed two aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Anyway. I’m currently stuck with the dance animation because the characters didn’t end up where I wanted them to be due to a severely truncated tumble run. I originally planned for Zara to do a proper diagonal with at least a slight run-up and 4-5 tricks. Then I had a problem of Rei’s tumble run being not nearly as long because she’s just learning and doesn’t know nearly as many tricks as Zara, plus she does a slower and more graceful one that doesn’t utilise a run up.

October ProgBlog #2: nearly forgot!

Friday, 5 October 2018 @ 10:16pm
And if I don’t do it tonight it will be late again as busy weekend is busy! The process video wasn’t done in time so it may make the next week’s progblog or alternately it may never see the light of day, depending entirely on whether or not I finish Embers over the next week. I did finish frame 3: and started on the last…er…frame I guess even though there’s no border. It feels a lot harder I guess because I can’t remember ever doing a coloured piece with more than two characters (hell I think last year was the first time I ever did a piece with more than two characters and this one beats that one by one). I also realised I forgot Zara and Dak’s tattoos so will have to remedy that before proceeding too much further.

The hang of it

Friday, 22 January 2016 @ 8:07am
Eventually got the hang of the Rigify-Pitchipoy rig that ships with Blender. I’ll use this one instead of mine XD (I made mine with the intention to use it for animating but it was mostly to learn how to rig in Blender because I like having an idea of how to do everything, I am however not a rigger) Please excuse the odd deformations, it’s a low poly model and I didn’t fix up the (pretty good) autoskinning as the intention was to test the rig. These folded arms are much better than my last folded arms and much easier!

Rig test 2

Error riddled but I’m calling it done so I can move along with other things. Like characters and sets and maybe more paintovers. Least my arm rig works which was the purpose of the exercise! Base rig test

This is another one of those rare instances where I post to an external site before the blog. I haven’t had a chance to set up a video thingi yet and am not willing to do it from Christmas Island (internet is tooooooooo slooooooowwwwwwww) so I am attempting to finally try to start getting over the grudge I have against Google over their mind numbingly idiotic real names policy that resulted in the nymwars (to their credit they have seemed to realise how stupid the policy was and how stupid it made them look and are now letting people call themselves whatever, and are now no longer forcing Youtube channels to be attached to G+ pages if you decide you don’t actually want to use your own name, I have decided I seriously can’t be bothered trying to recreate my old ryivhnn channel.
