Common confusion

fun that happens when you're somewhat androgynous

Amusement while I was walking the dog.

When you're somewhat androgynous, this is a thing that happens frequently.  I enjoy it way too much.

Especially when there are small children who are too young to realise some questions are apparently "inappropriate" and flat out ask me "are you a boy or a girl?" and I'll usually answer something along the lines of it either/or, doesn't really bother me, depends on the day, or if I'm feeling particularly playful, tell them I'm undecided that day and maybe they could suggest something.  It's even funnier when their parents are around as some of them are absolutely mortified and start apologising profusely (I have to find it funny because otherwise trying to make them understand that I literally don't care would be frustrating).

The Witchies

Three "witches" dressed in ridiculous anime getup with an oversized cauldron

Once upon a time, not so very long ago in the grand scheme, two of my friends and I got together in a group chat which apparently needed a name, so I called it "witchies" as there was a bit of the Triple Goddess vibe with our respective age gaps, at least partly influenced with how the director portrayed the three witches in a Macbeth I acted in way back at uni.  I said once I felt good enough I was going to draw us all as witchies.

Two years ago (yes you read that right x_x) I felt good enough, and so I started, intending it to be a 2018 Christmas present.  It was a bit of a challenge as I suck at doing real people so kind of vaguely made us all characters with the cute familiars, the oversized witch hats and pixie hoodie, and the ridiculously massive cauldron.

Scale issues

scale shenanigans

See what I have to put up with?

See what my poor family have to put up with? XD

I'm having scale issues in both senses of the word. For whatever reason, when importing a model from Blender, it's microscopic in 3dC.  What I did with Red was to just enlarge the model til it was big enough to work on, then send it back, where it was (strangely) way, way, way too big in Blender (I think he was close to 1km high before I resized him).  Then it didn't help that the vertices were apparently somehow too close together for the auto weight mapping so I had to enlarge it again just enough for that to work (because manually weight mapping rigs from the outset is the definition of tedious) and then shrink it agan.

May ProgBlog #3

Fallen back into old habits of stressing out about how much I'm not getting done art-wise because I'm spending so much time on the rest of life and taking those extra hours out of sleep time which is totally healthy especially given how long it takes me to go to sleep and according to my Fitbit I wake up really frequently during the night (not that I remember ever doing so, apparently I usually wake up instead of going into REM and all those minutes "awake" usually average an hour) so I either need to go to bed earlier or wake up later and neither of those things are going to happen.

Additionally I still haven't properly sorted a new work schedule, but with the house coming off the market soon and our bathroom renos nearly done I can actually start coming up with something now.

May ProgBlog #1: one step forward

Any given number of steps backwards.

Even though I'd repeatedly told 10yo not to start the quest in Habitica til 12yo and I were back from our respective jaunts, apparently he couldn't resist pressing the button.  So after we'd died a few times (mostly thanks to me as I have the biggest lists) I finally managed to scrape some stuff together enough to start working through my todo list (which I haven't updated outside of Trello but probably should).  If I can get it properly together I'll start jumping the quick stuff like I used to but currently my brain seems incapable so just plodding along in order it is.

This here was supposed to be a Christmas present for a couple of friends:

100

happy 100th birthday

Happy 100th birthday, Nanny.  Hope you're having a great celebration up there and heard us singing to you from all the way down here.

(The pictured cake I think was meant to be the actual birthday cake, and we ate it at the wake, we've been back in Perth for a week now and had a small dinner party at Aunty L's with Perth Nanny, my parents, Sprat, and Dad's youngest brother and his family and a sujee cake with 10 big candles on it and sent photos to Uncle C in Melbourne)

So my car got broken into the other day...

carbreak in

To avoid the incident happening I shouldn't have stayed for adult gym, but then the kids wouldn't have gotten the things they got.  And I think the only reason we caught him to to begin with was because I was actually in a hurry to leave, usually we all stand around chitchatting for 5-10mins before scattering to the four winds.

Tubcat

tubcat

TubCat goes around giving unwashed humans a hard time for being not as intelligent as a tubcat, as far as I can tell.  It's generally amusing.

What was less amusing was finally getting a good result on a jpb export (had to fiddle with Krita settings again) only for my blog to do something weird with it on upload, making the colours darker.  Seeing as this was

I went with the png which worked out much better at the cost of being four times bigger.  Sigh.
