Tiny tried to roll over a few days ago! He didn’t manage in the end but it was extremely exciting to watch ;) He was trying to push off the bed with one leg and using the other to try to kick over and get some momentum. Maybe the next time he tries he’ll flick his shoulders in the same direction thus acheiving success :)

Almost Forgot

I put Tiny on the floor today while JJ was at uni, down on his tummy coz he was being active and I thought he might like to attempt crawling again (it always frustrates him and he makes lots of noise, I’ll flip him back over as or a bit before he starts crying). As soon as I put him down he lifted his head all the way up.

Had the first mother’s group meeting thingami today. It was cool. Out of about 9 or so of us all but one used slings (though I was the only one that was actually using mine, the rest had their babies in prams or arms), all but three breastfed exclusively. I was the only one exclusively using cloth nappies though, there was this lady who used cloth nappies at home but disposables for outings.

Homeschooling

My mother surprised the hell out of me last night by being supportive of the possibility that we may homeschool when Tiny is old enough o_O My mother is full of surprises. Just goes to show that I can in fact discuss whatever with her, and she may or may not agree with me but she respects me enough as a person to listen and offer her own viewpoints and life experiences without making me feel like I’m doing things “wrong”.

Got my order from BubbaJ today :) Two hemp nappies with two inserts and I got a BubbaJ bag too which is cool. I’ll be able to use it to cart the floor rug kowren made for Tiny out of an old single doona and doona cover of mine. Well she only used half of said doona and doona cover, she has the other half to make her future baby a floor rug … or whatever else she wants to do with it :)

Blowout

Tiny likes this song, he was fussing, I asked him if he’d like to listen to music, what would he like to listen tp, would he like to listen to Guns n Roses? And put this song on. He went into happy state.

Those cloth nappies can contain anything but major blowouts, and we had another one of them. I had Tiny sitting on my lap shortly after he woke up. He must have got that concentrated look on his face that he often gets when he’s about to do a massive poo but I missed it as I was trying to get through the last of the things I check each morning (deviantART), one of my online friends had gone a bit nuts, but she always does good work so I didn’t mind.

Amazing Sleeping Baby

It used to be that either I would have to feed Tiny to sleep or JJ or me (or anyone else really, Mum always seemed happy to do it but he’s ours etc ;) would have to carry him and cuddle him to sleep.

A couple of times he surprised us by falling asleep all by his cute little self.

Cloth Nappies Projectile Vomit

I think there’s an in built stress tester in babies that causes their parents concern (assuming the parent isn’t already overly a major worrywart). Tiny got up to his projectile vomitus tricks again. I gave him his morning feed in bed as per usual and after an hour or so he chucked it back up. We cleaned him up, changed his nappy and it was feeding time again. He drank again, wet his nappy and I took him to the bathroom and was in the process of changing his nappy when he projectile vomited against gravity. I exclaimed “Crap,” as he did so. Then “Crap!” as more followed in a slightly higher projectile, and finally major expletives as I pulled him out of the way of the third.

Philosophy

“Kids grow up too fast”.

I’m more inclined to believe that kids grow up at a normal rate and that time is distorted by parents taking too long to get used to the phase of development the child is in until they’re well into it and starting to get out of it, or being too self centred at the wrong time.

Stats n Stuffs

Nearly forgot it was a public holiday when we made our plans but kowren and I decided to trek to Freo anyway to see if we could find any place that had canvas or hessian sack or something similar backing. We are gong to cut up this quilt and quilt cover to make matching floor rugs for Tiny and her future child. The four of us (me, JJ, kowren and terrycat) had a fun long debate about homeschooling vs mainstream schooling as well. Their kid isn’t even born and ours is only 9 weeks or so. Yeesh :)
