Thursday streaming
posted on: Saturday, 24 June 2017 @ 6:03pm inWho would have thought that editing a 6 hour video would take longer than a 3 hour one? Additionally I had some fun and drama with KDEnlive, apparently its annoying settings are per project; I had to specifically tell it to use most of my cores for rendering as it kept trying to use one and overheating my computer which caused it to hang and made me mad. And even after telling it to use 7 threads (so I could have one to do stuff with) as it turned out I had to just sit and let it do its thing all by itself as if I attempted to use my computer while it was rendering something would violently overheat and then the computer would hang.
If it keeps that up I’m not sure how I’m ever going to render out episodes. Good thing I’m not planning any feature films!
I managed the 6hr stream, and was joined for part of it by drake9809 and GROD. They provided company, entertaining chatter and encouragement til I had to get off. I managed to knock out most of Za’haran’s body and also found the value of recording when I was able to use the full recording to find which area these bloody triangles that had appeared when I removed some ngons were (they were folded under the mesh) so I was able to get rid of them. Much triumph ensued. I tried to explain it to JJ but he had no idea what I was talking about so just smiled and nodded with a critter caught in headlights look.
Here’s 6hrs compressed into a bit over 14.5mins:

I didn’t expect to run out of video before I ran out of audio so figured I’d be safe with the Pastoral Symphony but got a copyright notice on it that said the person who had done the recording was monetising it so I could still use the track but ads might appear in the video. So apologies for any ads, though I’m actually a lot happier with this option than the over the top takedown notices.
edit during Drupal to Hugo migration: I don’t know how the above will work out now that I’m self-hosting everything and not using Youtube
I’m currently reliably streaming on Thursdays 9am - 3pm AWST on Picarto.
