[minor pseudonymising edits during Drupal to hugo migration for all the good that will do now]

Monday: sick. Fortunately there was JJ to help with maths. JJ was making noises about wanting to do modular arithmetic. When I passed the kids were doing basic arithmetic on the whiteboard. JJ wasn’t quite sure who was where and thought 8yo knew how to carry 10s. I said we were working on carrying 10s, he hadn’t quite got it yet but could so multiple digit addition and subtraction in his head as long as the numbers were under 10.

Tuesday: discovered the problem with multiplayer Minecraft is terminal (JJ’s computer simply doesn’t want to play anymore, suspect Java issues, also the computer in question is a 2005 iMac) so our Minecrafting has been suspended. 8yo also managed to lose his dragon because he accidentally dismounted mid-flight. The dragon landed and stayed where he died and he respawned he’s not sure where in relation, so reuniting them is going to be interesting. He’s worried about poor Froofroo being cold and alone (it was dark and raining in-game at the time). English bookwork required a bit of nagging to start and pointing out they were tired and silly to stop, otherwise went without a hitch. Their writing is getting neater.

Wednesday: didn’t end up going to kung fu due to not feeling well (it’s that time of the month and we tend to take a week off coinciding).

Thursday: ANZAC Day. 6yo made ANZAC biscuits with JJ (which included copying the recipe onto a piece of paper to take into the kitchen) and 8yo got a history lesson while watching the ANZAC Day commemorations before the footy. 6yo also at some point asked JJ “why did people kill Jesus for nothing?” and got a brief lesson on religion and politics from an anthropological point of view. Next they need to learn to sit and wait and let people think when they ask hard questions as she repeated it a couple of times while JJ was trying to work out how to answer. Felt off and achey again and wasn’t sure if training was on due to the public holiday and it’s not exactly close enough to drive by and check so didn’t go again.

Friday: Nanna and Pop came round and the house magically became clean (Nanna is amazing like that, no one knows how she does it). 8yo wanted some friends over so we invited Qpop and her crew around. 8yo was hoping for an overlap between them and the next lot of friends that were coming over but it didn’t eventuate. Still I as unable to get them to draw the garlic and still can’t find the stupid measuring tape now that I actually need it, so that’s a weekend job before we transplant the garlic into the aquaponics as it’s starting to look rather sad (cue biology lesson). We also lost another chick. Qpop left (and left us some yummy food) and other group of friends arrived and they watched the footy (including another ANZAC ceremony because it’s an ANZAC weekend and we even successfully got the kids to sit relatively quietly for the Last Post and the minute silence), and then it ended in the expected the big boys watched the footy and the kids ran off and played. Didn’t do the art gallery this week due to another Friday night home game but trying for next week.

There’s also vague notions that Hub may start being excursion-based rather than location-based now seeing as we appear to be struggling to locate and not sure of the ability to keep regular classes going.
