My wakeful little boy is being all awake. I've just read The Rainbow
Fish to him three times and thought he would go to sleep but no such
luck.
Josh helped me out by doing the dishes (which I asked him
to do) and putting away the laundry that I'd folded (which I hadn't, so
thank him very much :). Today was mostly productive, after having a bad
day yesterday. Tao being high energy and requiring constant
stimulation, I'm making the commitment to take him out at least once a
day. I had a mind to go to the city to get more contacts, perhaps hit
up my favourite bookstore (Boffins)
and perhaps check out the new Borders bookshop as well to see if either
had any homeschooling books (though I may request some through the
library if I can track down any titles). Also chasing some vego/vegan
cookbooks. I want to amass cookbooks all of a sudden, slightly
surprising coz I hate cooking.
Anyway. I opted to go to
Southlands instead as Josh had said we needed more tuna and toilet
paper. Went to Southlands and on the way stopped by the playground as
I'd told Tao I was going to take him to a playground and there were some
other kids there as we were passing, and he wanted to "play wif other
tids".
So he played and I chatted to the mother of the other kids
(turned out she was only the mother of two of the three kids, her
oldest was in school and one of the kids was on loan. She asked how old
Tao was, I said a bit under 2.5. She said he was pretty good, I think
as he'd been talking to her and the other kkids and they could mostly
understand him. Then she asked if he went to daycare or anything, I
said no and she was shocked that his language development was so good.
She probably wouldn't have thought so if she'd heard Tao complaining
about something being a "pucken piece o tit" when unhappy with it.
Stroked my ego either way and I needed some superficial feel good feeling after my severe bout of depression yesterday.
Earlier
tonight after I'd read to Tao and Josh had finished putting the laundry
away he came into the playroom where Tao and I were reading and was
going to take over, but we just ended up hanging out all together which
was nice.
I'm not sure how we got onto counting but we were
counting for a while and Tao surprised us by suddenly going
"One...two...pree...pour...five...tix...s
Josh started holding up his fingers and Tao needed to be reminded what four and eight looked like, but he counted to ten on Josh's fingers. Did not know he could do that. We are quite pleased with him :)
And I've finally got him to bed so I'm going to play with hypervoxel settings for another half hour or so.
