February Homeschool Miscellany

After ending January on a high, I was looking forward to finding more expensive excursions that the kids would be interested in and working out what cheaper or free things I could sprinkle in between.

And then vaccine mandates dropped which basically meant we weren't "allowed" to do much of anything.  Fortunately the kids were still "allowed" to go to gymnastics and TAFE, and in that time 17yo managed to regain his backflip (he had it last year, then lost it in the second half of the year), and on the same night got the double.

This one was recorded after he'd done quite a few of them and I was too slow to catch the roundoff at the beginning, he doesn't usually stack at the end XD

March ProgBlog #1: in which I kind of remember I have a schedule for a reason

But then sometimes something demands a lot of attention and you need to hyperfocus on that sometimes to the detriment of everything else.

No, you don't get that? It's just me that has this problem?

Drat.

I continued having a lot of distraction working on all the roleplaying notes, finally getting to a stage where I felt somewhat comfortable running the last session of the "extra" group prelude despite missing notes for Vampire and Werewolf, and then that ended up falling through anyway as one of the players had an unexpected thing come up.  Least I got to write the story notes up properly and continue with the cheatsheet, which I'm kind of vainly hoping I will finish for at least player characters by this weekend x_x

Less cram for that did mean I actually got some other work done for a change.

February ProgBlog #1: slightly less stuck

Happy I Love You Day!

I spent Thursday to Sunday not being able to concentrate on any one thing for any length of time and just incrementally advanced a lot of things instead.  I don't know whether I feel somewhat accomplished at getting some work done on a lot of things or deflated because nothing feels done "enough", but it's a known thing that my idea of "enough" is actually unrealistic (at least in the timeframes I've got).

UASG

I finished Gundry's hands and felt a bit lost and confused (which is very normal when I actually finish something because I've been so all over the joint lately).

January Homeschool Miscellany

The month opened with 13yo being inspired by Genshin Impact (a game that 15yo and I have been playing together that 13yo occasionally joins us in) and making a chicken and mushroom kebab, which is one of the food items that can be crafted or purchased in game.

There isn't an actual recipe to follow so he just skewered and lightly seasoned and pan fried them.  Was very delicious.

AER Cameo: AussieNinja

Ninj and his new running partner

@aussieninja actually requested a self-insert cameo some years back and I think he was also the first person to do so.  While I cheerfully made Ninjaroo for him, I was much less confident doing people as characters back then and as I'm better at 3d than drawing I decided to just jump straight to 3d for that one.

More recently I've been a lot more comfortable drawing people as characters (the terror of the person not liking the result is constant though) and inspired by one of his posts that included getting surprised by a dog on a run:

January ProgBlog #4: slowly slowly

I think the schedule is working so far, it's just silly things like my general refusal to go to bed at a reasonable hour and general annoyances with youngest refusing to go to bed on time that's throwing spanners in my works now, in the form of "can't concentrate for the entire allocated time block".

Now occasionally weird things can happen in 3d either then I'm in the process of building something or when I walk away from a sculpt without really looking at where I stopped.  So after last night's work session I stopped at some point and went to bed and came back in the morning to

Crowd Cameo: mousey smallsteps

mousey smallsteps

@tarazkp requested a cameo of young @smallsteps as a mouse (because she loves being a mouse).

I don't have child proportioned bases yet so there was an entertaining round of contorting an adult sized base and then after sketching over in Krita, the transform tool got a good workout.

My butterfly (companion of the upgoat) made a cameo (with different shaped wings).

January ProgBlog #3: not quite there yet

I'm still on an awkward "holiday" schedule (which is as similar as I could make it to the term schedule working around a holiday program that's running at the moment).  I'm still going to bed late and getting up early and really do have to nix that immediately because the memory issues are back in force and I have very definitely slowed down.

I've been up late making sure roleplaying stuff is sorted out because that's a thing that happens every weekend.  And I also have to actually check CoD character sheets because I'm not familiar enough with the system yet to be able to glance and go yep looks right like I can with WoD.

I think my preludes have been getting a bit too extra, they're basically mini campaigns at this point.  On the bright side, so far 3/6 players (1/6 is waiting his turn and 2/6 haven't given me character sheets yet) are happy with how their characters are running.

So still working on digits.

January ProgBlog #2: reworked schedules

There's only multiple schedules because I have multiple people that I need to work with/around.

With some assistance from sibling dearest which she started off for me like

Spoiler: I have yet to be in bed before midnight x_x

I ended up with something that I'm going to be testing and tweaking for a little while til I know what (if anything) needs adjusting or something changes enough to require changing up.

Like everything it had a bit of a shaky start but things are starting to come together.
